SELR tries to never turn away a lama (the family that includes both llamas and alpacas), and it is our intention that such an event doesn't occur. We have been able to successfully rescue over 500 lamas since our inception, thanks to all the dedicated people who volunteer their time and effort to help transport, temporarily house, and ultimately place the lamas surrendered to our organization into their forever homes.

The need is ongoing. The issue is not limited to lamas that are abandoned or abused. Numbers of llamas and alpacas that are much loved and well cared for are affected when owners can no longer care for them due to unforeseen changes in life circumstances. Often these beloved animals are older, have health issues, or there is no time for a lengthy sale process - the animals need to be relocated on a relatively immediate basis.

In order to provide support where possible, we need your help. The burdens associated with vet care, feed and associated supplies are significant. In an effort to underwrite ongoing expenses, we have launched a fundraising campaign in hopes of creating a recurrent revenue stream that can be used to maintain and expand our mission.
