The Unique Goat - Melissa Saunders Perryman

Melissa Saunders Perryman is a self-taught artist. Although she has always been an artist at heart, her earlier days in the workforce started in the animal sciences. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and began her career in the field of wildlife biology. She volunteered with the Yellowstone Wolf Restoration Project in 1996 & 1997, where she worked as a field researcher. Her pen and ink drawings of wolves have been used in Yellowstone National Park literature and have been used to support the Defenders of Wildlife Gray Wolf Campaign through the Wildlife Network.

Melissa went on to develop a series of drawings for the National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center in Wyoming. The drawings are now featured in the center's outdoor exhibitry. From 1997 - 2005, she was employed as a naturalist at SciWorks Science Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

In addition to accepting commissions for portraiture, she participates in local and statewide art sales and sells art gift items at local shops. She is a member of the Whimsical Women Artists.

Kathy Addy Studios

Kath Addy has enjoyed a lifelong love of nature and animals and brings her wonder for flora and fauna to life in her work. She has studied pottery and jewelry making at John C. Campbell Folk School and Penland School of Crafts, both in North Carolina. After years of making functional pottery, Kath realized a preference for sculptural detail and found the perfect channel for her interests in creating artistic focal beads.

Kath enjoyed her youth in Tallmadge, Ohio, much of it on the scaled-down family farm owned by her grandparents. Her love of nature began in beautiful Ohio with its lush forests, lakes and abundant wildlife. She spent her youth hiking in the Cuyahoga National Park, swimming and ice skating on the local lakes and ponds and consuming vegetables and fruit fresh from the family farm. These early experiences instilled a deep and genuine love for nature in Kath, and that appreciation is constantly evident in the work she produces in her studio in Kingston, Georgia.

Genevieve Kaufman

Genevieve Kaufman, is pictured here working on a beaded bracelet. The photos don't do her justice, a very lovely and creative lady in her late 80's. Always talented in many areas, she recently took up beadwork, and has been making some beautiful bracelets and necklaces. In addition to her beadwork, she also knits for her local charities, and volunteers for reading to pre-schoolers. Quite an amazing, talented woman!
