Please Lend a Hand to Midwest Farm Animal Rescue for Lilly

Lilly's Rescue Story

There are many e-mails that come to me through the rescue that in the end, seem to be people that are just tired of their animals and want them “gone”. This one was different.

I received an e-mail Memorial Weekend from a young girl named Shelly about her injured llama named Lilly. Shelly lived in a very poor and remote part of Wisconsin. The email turned my stomach and brought tears to my eyes and I knew after 10 years in the world of animal rescue that this was a situation that needed immediate action. My gut told me that Lilly’s life was in danger and that she was suffering more pain and trauma than any animal should ever have to endure. more...

SELR Introduces Virtual Adoption Program

Meet "Loretta," the perfect llama companion. She is beautifully groomed; her nails are always trimmed; she is parasite-free; and never, ever poops in the barn!! Soft and cuddly, Loretta is now available for adoption from SELR! If you cannot add one more animal to your pastures, if you aren't presently in a position to house a llama or two, or if you want to give the perfect gift to yourself or another llama lover, Loretta is for you!

SELR's"Virtual Adoption"program is designed to help support our efforts to feed, house, transport and provide medical treatment for lamas surrendered as a result of their owner's inability to care for them, whether due to divorce, relocation, finances, owner illness or, yes, even neglect or abuse. These lamas deserve a safe and loving environment, and we are intent on ensuring they find one, but as a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, SELR is completely dependent upon adoption fees and donations from llama lovers everywhere.

Won't you consider adopting Loretta and making a donation to a great cause? She comes complete with an adoption certificate that you can personalize for the recipient, included in a booklet filled with llama facts and photos as well as Loretta's own story. Of COURSE it has a happy ending as she is surrendered to SELR and finds her forever home.

Loretta is also accompanied by a SELR travel mug that we hope you will carry with you everywhere to advertise the fact that there indeed IS an option for those who can no longer maintain their lamas, and SELR is ready and willing to act when called upon!

The Southern States Llama Association has voted to offer a free annual membership to all SELR adopters. The SSLA covers the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Please visit the SSLA to learn more about the wonderful things membership has to offer! www.ssla.org
Support SELR Through Goodsearch
One website allows you to donate to your favorite charity just by searching the web, and several local organizations are taking advantage of the opportunity. One such organization is the Southeast Llama Rescue. The llamas roam freely on 20 acres of land in picturesque Page County, but some of them remember a much different life before they were saved by Nancy Sottosanti, the Virginia coordinator for SELR.
